Welcome to the Virtual Writing Retreat!

A space to meet your muse, quiet your inner critic, and let the words flow.

🌀 Led by poet and hypnotist Adriana Cloud

The Virtual Writing Retreat is a weekly gathering for writers who want a regular date with their work.

We will meet on Zoom every week for 60 minutes to write together.

At the start of each session, I’ll guide you with gentle prompts, light trance, and/or somatic cues to help you settle down and tune in to what wants to be expressed.

We’ll then write quietly for 30–40 minutes, and at the end, we’ll briefly come back together to check in and celebrate wins.

This isn’t a class. There are no craft lectures or homework. But it’s not just a co-working space either.

It’s a weekly commitment to your creative work.

It’s a ritual of connection: with your words and ideas, with yourself as a creator, and with other writers, because there is a special kind of magic that happens when people write in community.

And maybe that magnetic energy is just the spark you need to keep showing up and finally finish that book you’ve been working on for the past nine years (yes, I’m talking to myself here).

The Virtual Writing Retreat is for you if:

✅ You want a reason to write—something in your calendar that nudges you back to the page each week (without a guilt trip).

✅ You write better with a little structure—a start and end time, a facilitator, some prompts, a bit of gentle guidance.

✅ You love writing with others—because creative energy shines brighter when you’re among fellow writers.

✅ You know that even a little bit of consistency can go a long way—and a weekly date with your writing sounds a lot more fun than “discipline.”

✅ You want to feel less alone in the inherently lonely act of writing—and more connected to your work, your ideas, and your identity as a writer.

Say no more, I'm in!

What you get in the Virtual Writing Retreat:

🌀 A weekly creative anchor—a time and space that belongs to you and your writing, no matter what else is going on in your world.

🌀 Gentle accountability—because showing up alongside others makes it easier to keep showing up for yourself.

🌀 Structure and facilitation (by yours truly)—so you’re not just staring at your screen wondering what to do, but you’re gently guided into your own flow.

🌀 Visualizations, light trance, and other exercises/invitations—to help you quiet the inner critic and open up your unconscious mind to all the ideas that have been just out of reach.

🌀 A sense of momentum—you’ll be writing regularly, which means more clarity, more trust in your voice, and more progress.

🌀 The space to experiment and play—because when you know you’ll be back next week, you can give yourself permission to try something new, just for the fun of it!

🌀 A community of fellow writers—no comparisons or critiques, just a shared commitment to making space for your creative work.

About your guide

I’m Adriana, an award-winning poet with 25 years of writing and editing experience, and a certified hypnotist. My poetry chapbook Instructions for Building a Wind Chime was published by the Poetry Society of America, and my poems and essays have appeared in lots of cool places including various print and digital magazines and the window of a bookshop in New York.

For the past waaaaay too many years, I’ve been working on a poetry collection about the idea of “home.” This writing retreat is for me as much as it is for you—I too want the dedicated time and space to work on my writing. I too long for the rich, nourishing, electric energy of a community of writers.

I am also a coach and hypnotist. I work primarily with people who want to drink less, but I’ve also coached numerous writers on writers’s block, rejection, procrastination, and that pesky old “I’m not good enough” belief that tries to drag all of us down at one point or another.

The Virtual Writing Retreat is where I’ve brought all of my worlds together—poetry, coaching, hypnosis—to help you stop overthinking, start writing, and maybe even find joy in the process again.

I'm ready, let's do this!

FAQs

I’m not a creative writer. Is this still for me?

Yes. If you feel the pull to write—in any genre and any format—the Virtual Writing Retreat is for you. Maybe you journal. Maybe you occasionally write a poem in your Notes app. Maybe you’re dreaming about a project that you haven’t started yet. You’re still a writer and you belong here.

What if I can’t join live every week?

That’s okay! Join when you can. Even showing up once or twice a month can help you build momentum, rekindle inspiration, and stay connected to your work. The live sessions are where the magic happens, but replays will be available for 30 days, so you can still use those to write on your own time.

What do I need to bring?

Whatever you like to write with—laptop, notebook, crayon and napkins from the coffee shop around the corner.

Bring a project if you have one. Or come with a blank page and a curious heart. I’ll offer prompts and suggestions to help you get started either way.

What is trance/hypnosis? Will you be swinging a watch in my face to make me fall asleep?

If this is your first encounter with these terms—fear not! There will be zero watches involved.

“Trance” is like meditation with an agenda. It’s a relaxed state of mind accompanied by a narrowing of the focus. We go in and out of trance every day, except we don’t call it that. You’re in trance when you’re watching a good movie or reading a book or zoned out thinking about apple pie during your evening commute. When we’re in a state of trance, we’re more suggestible because our critical thinking has taken a back seat, which makes our unconscious thoughts more easily accessible.

“Hypnosis” is a type of trance where a hypnotist uses particular techniques (counting down, visualization, etc.) to induce a state of focused attention.

Hypnosis is NOT mind control. You will not be suddenly tempted to give me your Netflix password or your PIN. (Believe me, if I could control minds, I’d be otherwise occupied!) You will be fully conscious the whole time and you will remember everything that happened. You cannot get stuck in trance, and trance is not dangerous.

I have another question not answered here.

Email me and I’ll help you out.
